Perfect for a romantic stroll, these natural paradises make for pretty photographs and remarkable memories.

If you’re looking for some wonderful gardens to wander through with a loved one, don’t go anywhere. We’ve gathered the very best Lake District garden gems - and we know that you and your loved one will adore each and every one!

 

Holehird Gardens

Strong supporters of the Lakeland Horticultural Society, Holehird Gardens is a majestic garden that provides the perfect backdrop for a wonderful afternoon of walking.

The garden is 12 acres in total, meaning that there are plenty of corners to explore. Whatsmore, the garden is maintained by volunteers - allowing for different types of horticulture each time you visit.

Located in Windermere, Holehird Gardens are also the ideal place to head out for a romantic stroll when staying at The Hideaway at Windermere!

 

Dalemain House and Gardens

Found close by to Ullswater, the Dalemain Gardens are another classic, natural paradise - and if you would like to spend hours wandering amongst some truly striking flowers, this is the one for you.

The Dalemain Gardens cover 5 acres in total, and the garden itself is hundreds of years old. There are also various different parts, including a Tudor Knot Garden as well as 200 old fashioned roses. 

There's even a huge selection of apple trees and a stunning wild garden. Each different area offers something unique to see, and we’re certain you’ll love loosing yourself in this beautiful space brimming with nature.  

 

Brockhole Gardens

Perfect to visit all year round, the Brockhole Gardens and Grounds are a lovely addition to our Lakes garden list that you won’t want to miss. This garden is what’s known as an ‘arts and craft’ garden, and features a wildflower meadow, a handkerchief tree, a kitchen garden and much more.

There’s something for every garden enthusiast in Brockhole, and the garden comes to an end by a lake shore, offering some amazing views you won’t want to miss.

Levens Hall Gardens

If an afternoon of topiaries sounds like a something you’d be interested in, then the Levens Hall Gardens could be the ideal place for your romantic garden walk.

Levens Hall has been overseen by the same family for over 400 years, and the beautiful gardens really are a sight to behold.

Take your time admiring some of the amazing topiary sculptures and revel in the fact that it’s actually the oldest and most expensive topiary garden in the world - with over 100 shaped trees!

After your walk around the garden, you can also visit their Bellingham Buttery for a spot of lunch, too.

 

Sizergh Castle and Gardens

Our final garden choice is a National Trust property, and because of this, you can rest assured that there will be some amazing sights to see at Sizergh Castle.

Whisk yourself away to a natural paradise and enjoy the castle gardens all year round. The garden itself comes in at an impressive seven hectares, and as we’re approaching autumn you can expect to see the beekeepers collecting honey, as well as various trees that are full of ripe, juicy fruits.

It’s a lovely day out - and you can always go and explore the castle itself after to round your visit off nicely.
